Since 2014, the sculptures and objects from the collection of the Stiftung Arp e.V. in Berlin are conserved by Claartje van Haaften. For the more than 300 plaster sculptures, painted wooden reliefs, and bronze sculptures, conservation means more than preserving the material. It is also about preserving the meaning and value of the entire collection. As a team, this involves providing assistance and advice on packing and transport for exhibitions, as well as examining and assessing the technical details of works of art for research purposes and preventing risk. Acute restoration is carried out on highly sensitive plaster objects. Great care is taken to preserve the original traces of the artist's work, the historical working methods of the studio and the foundries. Kerstin Häussermann, a qualified paper conservator, conserves the works on paper.
With the kind support of the curator and the Board of the Foundation.
